Welcome to the first Waverley Ways of the new millennium. We all look forward to seeing you over the coming season and hope we can rely on your support.

The first Clubnight of the new season will be on Tuesday 4th April with clubnights continuing each Tuesday and Friday thereafter along with Sunday afternoons which we hope will be better supported this coming year. In an effort to try and get as many members together as possible on club nights, the committee have agreed a ‘core time’ for members of between 6pm and 8pm where we hope all members will make an effort to be there so that we can all get the best out of club evenings. We also hope to bring in match practise and drills on a Friday evening.

We are currently looking into the costs etc of the services of a coach at the Club to try and encourage more youngsters as well as providing a service for the adults as we all feel this is vital to the continuing success of the Club. Please keep a watch on the clubhouse notice board for updates.

Membership forms are attached for you to complete for the coming year. Rates have increased slightly this year and we have introduced some new categories. To benefit from any discounts available you must get your cheques into the Treasurer by the end of April and all fees must be paid by the end of May. We hope you will all be joining again this year and would ask you all to try and think of anyone you may know who you could introduce to the Club and bring along to clubnights. We need to attract as many new members to the Club as possible and hopefully, if we can advertise the services of a coach along with the other events etc planned for the year, we can increase membership. Visitors fees, playing with a member, are £3 per session with a maximum of 5 sessions.

Saturday 1st April - Jumble Sale. Please contact Kate Saunders on 321598 if you have any jumble or can help on the day. 2pm to 4pm in the clubhouse.

Saturday 15th April - Working party to get clubhouse ready for coming season. From 10am, any time you can spare that morning would be welcome.

Sunday 7th May from 2pm - Open day with American tournament and proposed drills and coaching.

Sunday 2nd July - Doubles grass tournament. We will also be inviting couples from other clubs to participate.

There will also be other club events run over the coming summer season. Please watch the noticeboard in the clubhouse.

3 mens teams and one mixed have been entered in the local league along with a mens team in the Hants & IOW league. If you are interested in playing matches then please contact Richard Mole.

We should again be getting an allocation of tickets this year. If you have not paid your fees by end of May you will not be eligible. Again, keep a lookout on the noticeboard for full details.

Please find enclosed, copies of leaflet advertising the club which we would be grateful if you could distribute to friends, neighbours etc to help advertise the club and attract new members.

Finally, for those of you who have been members of the Club for some time it is with great sadness to report the death of Mary Mason in early February. She was a very keen supporter of the Club over a number of years as well as being an excellent and dedicated player.
